AIST is Japan’s largest public research institute. AIST is researching applications for nanotechnology as well as the risk management methods needed to safely develop nanotechnology. The Research Institute of Science for Safety and Sustainability (RISS) issued a paper in 2009 which discusses Japan’s position on nanomaterials safety. http://www.aist-riss.jp/main/?ml_lang=en
