Confidentiality is a key component of the work nanoTox does for our clients. Working with various clients in the early R&D stage of engineered nano material application, it is vital that intellectual property and trade secrets are kept confidential. Additionally, safety testing results during later stages of nanotechnology commercialization also need confidentiality so that results can be reviewed and if needed acted upon before release to regulators or the public. In addition, competitors are many. In high tech industries speed and product development secrecy are necessary to successfully commercialize nanotechnology enable products before competitors can react, or worse, beat you to market.
nanoTox’s testing protocols require double blind procedures to ensure that the results are unbiased and not influenced by the name of the client. Lab technicians do not know the name of the client for whom they are performing tests.
Some government agencies provide similar services as those provided by nanoTox, such as workplace surveys and particle characterization, however their work is not confidential.
